“Oh My Friends” – Nap Eyes

Leave the big river to those masochists willing to cast weighted nymph rigs into a bitterly cold 100km/h headwind.

Instead you’ll slip up into the relative shelter of the canyon section of a small tributary. Where you’ll be able to wet wade one last time, with nothing but the sound of rustling leaves and a gentle stream making its way. Where the sun’s warmth may reach you often enough that you’ll forget that this will never last forever. Where you can be alone with your thoughts and cast big October caddis patterns to the last rising fish still rising. Where you’ll savour the last beer in your pack while you sit on the straw coloured banks and ponder the season that was. Thankful that the last cast you’ll make this year, ended with a beautiful rainbow.

And you’ll walk home content, knowing that you can’t ask for more than that.
